An elegant and desirable example of Parisian coachbuilding art.  The last of the line of exclusive V-8 powered
GT coupes that many consider the masterpiece of the marque.  Less than 50 remain in the United States.

VEHICLE HISTORY - Registry shows one of only 182 coachbuilt from 1962 to 1964, equipped with a single carb
383 Chrysler Wedge V8 engine, Torqueflite 3-speed automatic transmission, silver grey metallic paint, Connelly
red leather color #3615 interior, factory Mitchell air conditioning, Borrani wire wheels, and was delivered new
to dealer Max Hoffman, USA, July 1962.  The 1962 manufacturer’s suggested retail price was $12,160, placing
this vehicle in the exclusive company of the Mercedes-Benz 300SL roadster at $10,900, and the Ferrari 250 GT
2+2 at $12,600.  Originally owned by a doctor in Colorado, this vehicle came to Southern California in 1986 and a
professional, frame-off restoration was completed in 1988.  Vehicle has been in the western states its whole life
and did not get rusty as is common with vehicles of this vintage.  Documentation of the original owner’s parts
purchases from France shows the care that went into maintaining this exotic vehicle.

BODY CONDITION - A custom-mix light blue metallic repaint was applied to a clean, straight body during a
professional frame-off restoration and vehicle remains in nice condition.  Bumpers were polished and chrome
was replated.  The rare, correct Marchal Megalux european-specification headlamps are installed and brightly
illuminate night roads.  The taillights are also euro-spec, with glass reflectors in the center, and the back up
lamp is the correct amber Marchal single center-mounted unit.  The interior was retrimmed in tan leather  to the
original pattern, with Wilton wool carpets and English broadcloth headliner, and remains in good condition with
an attractive patina.  Some connoisseurs have said the elegant dashboards are the most beautiful of any
automobile and set off the entire look of the interior.  The woodgrained painted finish of the dashboard has
been carefully recreated and remains in excellent condition.  Instrument layout and steering wheel possess the
pure early 1960s European luxury gran turisimo look, with round instruments with chrome bezels reminiscent of
simpler times.  Full instrumentation includes clock, tachometer, amp, fuel, oil pressure, coolant temperature, oil
temperature gauges.  The original Piper “Rolls-Royce” type power window motors have been rebuilt and
operate smoothly and quickly.  Correct, original Nardi wood and polished and engraved aluminum steering
wheel is in excellent condition.  Equipped with original and functioning H. Smith & Sons Radiomobile AM radio
with original Hirschmann power antenna.  The correct and original chassis number plate is at the rear of the
engine compartment.  The correct and original body coachwork number is on the passenger door hinge post.
The correct and original “Facel” door key and “Facom” tool kit pliers are included, as is a reproduction Owner’s
Manual in English.  The few minor paint and interior flaws should encourage the new owner to use the vehicle
as a very nice driver or for display at a Concours.

MECHANICAL CONDITION - During the frame-off restoration, the correct, matching numbers engine #TY8712203
has been rebuilt and is running the correct, matching numbers Carter AFB # BFO2950S.  The valve covers have
been refinished in correct black wrinkle, applied in the higher cost powder coat method which can remain
looking like new for years. The original Torqueflite 3-speed automatic transmission have been rebuilt.  The
cooling system has been rebuilt with re-cored original radiator, heavy-duty water pump, and heavy-duty fan
clutch.  The correct upper fan shroud is in place at the front of the engine compartment and correctly painted
body color.  The under-bumper front valence panel is missing, but reproductions are available.  Brakes were
reconditioned with a rebuilt master cylinder, rebuilt caliper cylinders, rebuilt original booster, and new pads.
Rebuilt original Hydrosteer power steering box and pump has very slight seepage.  Correct Borrani wheels
have been professionally rebuilt and polished, are fitted with 185/15 Michelin X tires with fresh tread, and the
chrome knock-offs are in excellent condition.  New KYB shock absorbers have been fitted front and rear.  The
factory-installed air conditioning interior fans work, the compressor clutch engages, the system needs
pressure checking and servicing.  The odometer reads 30,973, actual mileage unknown, only about 1,000 miles
have been recorded since restoration.  The mechanicals of the vehicle remain in nice condition.

MARQUE HISTORY - The first Facel-Vega production cars appeared in 1955 and instantly won acclaim from
critics around the world. The secret to the success of Facel-Vega was its unique blend of elegant design and
European build-quality. The Facel-Vega was regarded as a car that competed with the finest European and US
automobiles.

Just over 3,000 cars of all models were hand-built in the short life of Facel. The models were stylish and
luxurious.  They were also very expensive and were bought by the rich and famous seeking something
different and distinctive.

The exclusive styling and prestigious aura appealed to royalty and other notables. The star-studded list of
owners is a miniature Who's Who of royalty and diplomats: the Shah of Iran, the King of Morocco, Prince Saoud
of Arabia, Prince Charles of Belgium, the President of Mexico, the US ambassador to Brussels, the French
ambassador to Norway, etc.  Hollywood royalty and industry luminaries embraced the marque as well: Debbie
Reynolds, Danny Kaye, Joan Collins, Tony Curtis, Gardner McKay, Henry J. Kaiser, Joan Fontaine, Anthony
Quinn, Ringo Starr, and three-time owner Ava Gardener. Great racing drivers of the time such as Rob Walker,
Maurice Trintignant, and Stirling Moss used Facels to cover the distances between the race tracks of Europe at
high speed in comfort and safety.

Designed by it’s builder, Jean Daninos, the bodylines of this classic are unmistakable, and not unlike those
created by Daninos’ close friend Pinin Farina.  The body construction of this Facel Vega is unparalleled by any
sports car of yesterday or today.

OFFER - Titled and located in So. Cal., USA.  This is a rare opportunity to acquire the aura of prestige and
elegance of a an extraordinary Facel-Vega automobile.
